How Novel Rewire Your Imagination

I always find this world, or these realities, difficult to sit in. But sometimes you can escape or free yourself from them with the help of novels. A good novel takes you to imagination or a world of your own where you can build your own characters, your own surroundings. I've always been a person who loves to read novels and use my imagination. Sometimes I get stuck with things and couldn't help myself, but when I open a novel or something to read, my imaginations pop back to life. So there are two ways people see novels: some shine light on your life; they reflect reality back at you. Others are just fiction, way too far from reality to be anything but escape.

When I was in college, I read _The Forty Rules of Love_, and it changed how I saw love completely. It wasn’t an escape. It was a mirror. The book shows you Shams, who knows that choosing this path might cost him his life, but he chooses it anyway for the sake of companionship and truth. And then there’s Rumi — a respected scholar who lets all that respect go, and lets himself be broken and rebuilt by Shams. It taught me that love isn’t safe. It demands sacrifice. Sometimes it shatters you into pieces and leaves you in pain. But that same suffering can take you somewhere you actually wanted to be. I fell in love with that idea. And I understood that what you truly love, you won’t get the easy way. If it matters, it’ll cost you something. After reading it, my whole perception of love changed. I stopped looking for the clean, easy version.

This is how novels mess with my head and change me. Some books are like a doorway out. When everything gets heavy, I open one and step into another world for a bit. No noise, no weight. I come back lighter, like I’ve taken a breath I didn’t know I was holding. Then there are books that don’t let you run away. They hold a mirror up and say, "Look at this.” Love that breaks you, sacrifice that costs everything, changing yourself because someone else matters more. It hurts, but it doesn’t leave you.
